Car subwoofers are the life of a quality car sound system. However, a lot of people don't know what a subwoofers are and what do they do? Basically, car subwoofers are loudspeakers intended to generate the lowest frequencies, or bass end of the audible sound range. Car subwoofers are usually sold separately from other car speakers, though you can probably find an entire set that also includes a car amplifier and sub.
A subwoofer is important because it not only produces a strong bass sound, but it also relieves pressure from your standard speakers. Subwoofers are of either a passive or powered type. A passive subwoofer setup will get its? power from the car audio system. A powered type of setup will get its power delivered independently of the car audio system being used.
These are not designed to carry low and high frequencies optimally at the same time, so devoting a subwoofer to the bass makes all of the sound clearer from every speaker. If you are installing a car subwoofer, you will also need a car amplifier with a channel for a sub, if you don?t already have one.
The amplifier provides the current needed to power your speakers and subwoofer. Match the power of the amplifier to the wattage labeled on your subwoofers. If your amplifier is more powerful than your subwoofers, you might damage your system, so make sure your components are compatible. Also be sure that you are connecting your amp and your subwoofer with high gauge connection cables.
