1. Why does stainless steel have magnetism?
Answer: People often use magnets to check the stainless steel. If a magnet does not attract or have magnetism, it is considered genuine and valuable. It is considered a counterfeit product. In fact, this is an extremely one-sided and unrealistic method of identifying errors.
Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic or weakly magnetic; Martensitic or ferritic stainless steel is magnetic. However, after cold processing, the microstructure of austenitic stainless steel at the processing site will also transform into martensite. The greater the degree of deformation during processing, the more martensitic transformation occurs, and the greater the magnetic properties. The material of the product will not change. More professional method should be used to detect the material of stainless steel. (Spectral detection, stainless steel identification liquid detection).
2. Why does stainless steel rust?
Answer: a. The surface of stainless steel is covered with dust or foreign metal particles containing other metal elements. In humid air, the condensed water between the attachments and stainless steel forms a micro battery, triggering an electrochemical reaction and damaging the protective film, which is called electrochemical corrosion.
b. substances such as vegetables, noodle soup, and phlegm adhere to the surface of stainless steel, forming acids in the presence of water and oxygen. These  acids corrode the metal surface.
c. The surface of stainless steel adheres to substances containing acids, alkalis, and salts (such as alkali water and lime water splashes from decorating walls), causing local corrosion.
d. In polluted air (such as atmosphere containing a large amount of sulfides, carbon oxides, and nitrogen oxides), encountering condensed water can form sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and acetic acid droplets, causing chemical-corrosion.
